Gum Disease and
COVID

One of the most important things that dentists can help you with
is preventing gum disease. Sure, we help you fight cavities and bad breath,
but preventing gum disease is so essential for many
reasons.

Periodontal disease or gum disease affects more than just your
mouth, it can lead to many serious problems throughout your entire
body—cardiovascular stroke, pneumonia, Alzheimer’s, just to
name a few.

Without proper treatment, gum disease can really damage your
overall health! This is especially important in today’s world with
the COVID-19 pandemic. People with gum disease are more susceptible to
sickness.

How to Prevent Gum Disease?

There are many things you can and should do to avoid gum disease
or get it under control if you already have it.

Go to the Dentist Regularly

If you show early signs of periodontal disease, we can help you
prevent it from becoming more of an issue with more frequent
cleanings.

Brushing

Make sure that you are brushing at least twice a day with
ADA-approved toothpaste and a soft-bristle toothbrush.

Flossing

Regularly flossing is so important! You hear it all the time
because it’s true! Flossing every day can keep your gums healthy by
removing the bacteria from in between your teeth, where your toothbrush
can’t reach.

If flossing is not your thing, then get a Waterpik! These little
machines do a fantastic job at removing the bacteria from your
mouth.

Mouthwash

We recommend StellaLife, but any mouthwash that has
the American Dental Association logo is a good choice. You can also try
replacing mouthwash with saltwater.
