Health

Three Major Layers of a Tooth

The outer covering is enamel, which protects your teeth. The
second layer is called dentin, which is softer than enamel. The dentin is
then connected to the middle of the tooth, the pulp, by millions of tubules.
Then lastly is the pulp. This is the softest layer of your
tooth.

When a cavity or infection makes its way all the way to the pulp,
a root canal or extraction is necessary.

Neglecting Oral Health Affects Your Overall
Health

It is extremely important to address these infections before they
reach the center of the tooth because neglected infections can lead to heart
issues.

If you are missing one or more teeth, this can affect the way you
eat. When chewing with missing teeth, you don’t digest the same way.
Your stomach has to create more acid to break up your food, which can lead to
stomach issues such as ulcers.

There are many other ways that your oral health can affect your
general health, which is why it is so important to keep up with dental
hygiene.

Many people will avoid the dentist because they ignore the issues,
are scared of the dentist, or because they do not have insurance.
